The Straw Hats have been branded criminals for entering Skypiea without paying the toll! Their only chance for a way out is a series of challenges given to them by Kami's vassals. Meanwhile, Nico Robin makes an important discovery about the island. Is there a city of gold hidden on Skypiea?
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

i love the way that noland the liar's tale about the island with the gold 400 years ago is connected in this arc. zoro's extremely poor sense of direction and luffy relying on the temperature for the direction are the highlights of this volume and it's never not funny!!
This has nothing to do with this volume but i yesterday watched episode of Sabo (wasn’t emotionally ready to watch it while watching Dressrosa) but anyways i couldn’t stop crying🥲
Anyways, Skypiea is soo good and i don’t get why people hate it, i get its slow but it isn’t boring!! (Also the parallels btw this arc and wano>>> )
One Piece, Vol. 27 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (247–255) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Skypiea Arc. Upon entering Skypiea, the Straw Hat Pirates incite the wrath of Eneru's four priests. As Monkey D. Luffy and company deal with one of the four, the so-called captured crew is forced to fight a second of Eneru's priests. They are saved by his predecessor, Ganfor, who is only able to make the priest leave after being defeated.
Elsewhere, Luffy is able to defeat the first priest and soon afterward reunites with his crew. After Ganfor is healed, he tells them of a city of gold hidden somewhere in Skypiea. At the mention of treasure, the Straw Hats go looking for the gold, only to find themselves in the middle of a war between Eneru and the Shandians – the natives of Skypiea.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. It continues the Skypiea Arc where the Straw Hat Pirates finally reunites and goes in search of golden treasure = only to find that they are in the middle of a civil war between the Shandians – the native inhabitants of Skypiea and the cruel God Eneru.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 27 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
On the other hand, sometimes one might feel like letting some of those mysteries simmer a little longer: Oda tends to make most of the revelations pretty soon - such as in this volume - while spending the rest of the arc in big fights. That stuff's already starting, with the Priests taking the field and showing off some of their strength, the natives returning to take back what's theirs, and there's the god Ener. I guess the last mentioned's one final mystery: what's up with him? What is his power, and why did he come here in the first place?
I also enjoyed a couple good character moments from Chopper, and Luffy being an idiot as always. And some of the above reveals were good.
The sky islands continue to intrigue. I definitely prefer this one to the previous arc. It's a lot more mysterious and slightly lower in action, which suits my reading tastes. I still struggle to follow along with action scenes. Particularly liked the scenes with Chopper and the Sky Knight in this one.
The Skypiea arc is in full swing as the crew is split and Luffy, Usopp, and Sanji take on one of the evil lieutenants while the rest of the crew investigate the mysterious island.
This volume is where all the set-up is fully realized and you recognize just how much groundwork was actually laid in the previous volumes. It's a nice pay-off for earlier work put in.
Finally, things are starting to come together. The world building is extremely interesting, but this adventure arc for me is a bit slow compared to an action arc like Alabasta. Hopefully, things pick up and start going crazy soon. Also, I love how calm and collected Robin is all the time 🤣

Todo el worbu y las pistas que nos habían dado hasta aquí empiezan a cuajar, además las escenas de acción de este arco están siendo muy buenas y los momentos de humor, también.
we truly have reached skypiea. like the first part is all of them getting together but we had the fun bonfire. GONNA FIND THE CITY OF GOLD. we got the colonizing ………. … WE GOT ZORO TANK TOP!!! AND WE MEET ENERU (enel) LETS FUCKING GO
We continue with the strawhats fighting the 4 angels of Enel and Luffy and co are able to defeat one and we learn more about the history of Shandia, the Jayas Island and how one of the lands of skypeia was once part of jaya and the whole thing behind is fascinating, and why the conflict exists between shandians and the angels and also Enel enters and his design is kinda cool but he drums are lame, and Luffy has some good moments! Fun volume!
247: Ball Challenge 248: Former Kami vs. Vassal 249: The Village Hidden in the Cloud 250: Ball Dragon 251: Overture 252: Junction 253: Varse 254: Aubade 255: The Anaconda and the Search Team
247. Ball Challenge - Luffy vs. Satori of the Forest. 248. Fomer Kami vs. Vassal - The 2nd vassal "Sky Rider" Shuri & his riding roc Fuza attack Chopper, but Ganfor & his pet duck Pierre intervene thanks to Chopper's emergency Sky Knight whistle. I really like the bird companions. There's also some background here on the "Song of the Island". 249. The Village Hidden in the Cloud - We meet some Shandians (native sky people) named Aisa & Wyper. Ganfor is wounded by Shura. 250. Ball Dragon - Luffy finally defeats Satori with the help of Usopp & Sanji. 251. Overture - The Dial Ship makes it safely out of the Forest of No Return. The Shandians are targeting Kami Eneru's temple. The Straw Hats learn that the Upper Yard was once half of Jaya. 252. Junction - Straw Hats reunite. Chopper tends to the wounded Ganfor. Team agrees to search the city of El Dorado for gold. 253. Varse - Ganfor explains the meaning of Varse: greenery & soil that don't normally exist in the sky. The Straw Hats examine a 400-year-old map of Jaya, which used to be shaped like a skull. There is treasure marked in the right eye of the skull, which would be located in what is now the Upper Yard. 254. Aubade - Kami Eneru opens all of the Upper Yard to the Skypiea vassals, including "Sky Breeder" Ohm & "Skyboss" Gedatsu. The Merry Go is mysteriously repaired in the middle of the night by someone. 255. The Anaconda and the Search Team - Ganfor states he was Kami until 6 years ago. Luffy & crew are attacked by a tiger-striped snake.
I really enjoyed the introduction of the Shandians, who are basically dealing with their native sky land being colonized by people from the Blue Sea, & who don't like either the Straw Hats or the Vassals. I also enjoyed the concept of the island Jaya being half carried off to the sky one day which is a fun video game-y idea.
SKYPIEA ARC - PART 2 1. the sky people are israeling el dorado and the shandians. insane. this volume came out 2003, yet the depiction of such horrifying events is timeless, and as sad as it is, it makes for a very real storyline.
2. are paramecia users the same as devil fruit eaters?
3. i'm still waiting for a moment with nico robin in the same way that we had with nami and chopper, a moment of proving that she is valued by the straw hats, of them healing something within her, and i know it's gonna come and it's gonna be awesome.
4. shura looks like sportacus.
5. kami eneru's secret plan called maxim. [writes it down]
Somehow this was just OK. I mean we found out some good stuff but overall I just don't feel it. Skypia may be too weird for me. I know the cool things are yet to come but so far this is just a fun adventure witch great characters. And that is not a bad thing. Not every volume can be a game-changer.
