The Straw Hat pirates embark on a plan to become superrich. They just have to find the hidden treasure in El Dorado, the lost city of gold, and then make a getaway on their ship. Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

13 skypiea, 7 shandians y 5 muwis

3.5 stars. I love this crew (🥹❤️), but I must say I’m finding that having pages where they don’t appear doesn’t grab my interest as much. Or maybe this arc just isn’t my favourite, haha.
This is possibly the most chaotic One Piece has ever seen - and that's saying a lot. You've got three parties waging war at one another, each seeking for a different thing and none of them liking the other. Luffy and Zoro duke it out with the natives, Chopper and Robin with the invading clergy, and the natives and the invaders clash all around them. It's pretty great. Brings forth some great moments - learning more of Robin and what really enrages her, giving Zoro a chance to sharpen his sword skill, and for Chopper to (hilariously) grow as a person and become more mature, Ener shows off his power and total invincibility as we learn his secret... whilst Wyper, who previously got angry at Ener for destroying his precious homeland, now basically whips out a flamethrower to the very same forest. A bit of consistency with him would be nice.
And speaking of consistency, there's a couple other characters taking terrible wounds and being nearly killed and stating to be out of the fight... but once again, they'll be fine later on. This is a big problem in shonen genre as a whole, where you can't always tell just how badly off someone really is: you can't trust your eyes in whether they're too badly hurt to go on, or whether their wounds are too grave to survive from. One Piece is among the worst of the lot, and this really hurts things.
Think this is the first time the "Void Century" is mentioned, though? That hints for greater things. Even as the war rages on, the plot as a whole trudges ever onward in the background...
Its another continuation of the sky island saga, this time NAMI confronts the brother of the angel Satori- Hotari and Kotori and its epic the way she fights and defeats them, meanwhile Robin is trying to discover the secrets of the Shandora part of the land of Skypeia and then has to fight Commander Yama. One by one the participants are going by in this tournament. And only some remain.
I have to admit, this arc is a bit confusing as I try to keep all these new characters straight! The strawhats keep splitting up. I just want them to all stay together!
“Fools who don’t respect the past are doomed to repeat it” Very true Robin…

Better volume than the last. This time we got Luffy going head to head with a badass. Zoro using a new slash mid air move. Robin being a natural of taking down a enemy in one hit. Chopper getting to shine too. Overall, a real fun volume.
256: Wyper the Berserker 257: Dial Battle 258: The Many Souths 259: Pirate Zoro vs. Warrior Braham 260: Pirate Luffy vs. Berserker Wyper 261: Warrior Genbo vs. Heavenly Warriors Commander Yama 262: Pirate Chopper vs. Vassal Gedatsu 263: Pirate Nami and the Weird Knight vs. Heavenly Warriors Subcommanders Hotori and Kotori 264: Warrior Kamakiri vs. Kami Eneru
Me encantan los combates de Zoro. Y me río un montón con él, con Chopper y Luffy perdiéndose, pero cada uno interpretándolo desde un punto de vista diferente.
Hm, I’m not really into Skypedia as I hoped I would be. I really liked the buildup to it… I suppose the silly characters always take away from the supposed gravity of the initial power imbalances. (this is what I hated about Baroque Works) I also can’t really take anyone seriously when they all have such adorable angel wings. 🪽✨
Kami Eneru is the one character that poses as a real threat. I like his design, very Dragon Ball-esque.
I'm still unfortunately finding this arc pretty dull. There's just nothing really driving the plot or the characters in this section. It's all just kind of meaningless fighting. But I suppose there were a few nice bits in this volume. If nothing else, I'm beginning to warm up to Robin.
The “game” begins! Who will be left alive at the end? This feels very Hunger Games almost. Definitely more unqiue than other “tournament arcs” in other shounen manga!
One Piece, Vol. 28 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (256–264) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Skypiea Arc. With the war's start, Eneru decides to make a bet: of the eighty-one combatants currently on Skypiea – the Straw Hats, the Shandians, and his own forces, only five will remain in three hours' time. The Shandians engage Eneru's forces, the remaining priests fight the Shandians, and the Straw Hats fight whoever is left. After two hours, the number of active combatants dwindles to twenty-five.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. It continues the Skypiea Arc where the civil war between the original inhabitants of Skypiea – the Shandians and Eneru’s forces, leaving the Straw Hat Pirates caught in the middle of it all. After two hours of fighting, only twenty-five of the original eighty-one combatants are still alive.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 28 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
The battle begins! 81 fighters will participate in a so called survival game; Straw Hat Pirates (7 people), Shandians (20 people) God's Priests (3 people), God's Militia (50 people) and God Enel himself.
Battle occured: - Wiper vs Priest Shura - Wiper vs Luffy - Zoro vs Warrior Braham - Warrior Genbou vs God's Commander Yama - Chopper vs Warrior Gedatsu - Nami and Gan Fall vs Vice Commander Hotori and Kotori - Warrior Kamakiri vs God Enel
Two hours after the battle 25 fighters still active; 5 Straw Hat Pirates, 7 Shandians, 12 God's Militia and God Enel.
The lost golden city, Shandora holds some information about the Void Century.
SKYPIEA ARC - PART 3 1. i like the idea of the upper yard survival games, and the counting down. with the entire setting of it happening on an island, it reminds me of the 1999 'battle royale' novel by koushun takami.
2. how are impact dials used in the general day-to-day life? i can only think of it being some sort of thruster fo generators - is that what they're using to hover/fly?
3. who wins in a fight? sword or guns? (zoro, of course)
4. anybody who touches a hair on chopper, i will kill. i will absolutely go berserk.
5. is it just me, or are the vassals....quickly beaten or is there still a come back? somehow it feels so unfinished, still.
6. minato could defeat eneru. he is faster than lightning, after all
This volume would be cool without a couple of fights that unnecessarily extended the story (one of Oda's biggest writing flaws). Even Nami's fight wasn't that great. Some scenes continuation was clunky as well.
