Luffy has made it to the tower where Robin is being held captive, but in order to save her, he must first get past the deadly assassin Rob Lucci. The rest of the Straw Hats are busy fighting their own battles to find the key that will free Robin. Can the crew find the right key in time?!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

The climax of Enies Lobby is building with this volume. Every CP9 agent save Rob Lucci who Luffy is getting warmed fighting. As cool as Sanji was in his fight with Wolfman (i.e., saving Sogeking), I preferred Nami and Zoro’s fights. It was awesome seeing Nami get better at fighting since she struggles so much in Alabasta and her putting her strategic mind and knowledge of the weather to good use (I’d say she had a much easier time that some of the other Straw Hats taking down her CP9 opponent). Zoro vs Kaku meanwhile was as epic as a Zoro fight could be with the added bonus that Kaku managed to make fighting in his giraffe form actually pretty cool. In these battles I also liked the added danger of an out of control Chopper and the crew’s unwillingness to hurt him (i.e., Nami’s beating up Franky following the suggestion to kill Chopper). Lastly I love Sogeking rescuing Robin at the last second and proving why he’s the King of the Snipers. I already liked him like I did with Usopp ( ;) ) but this arc truly made me appreciate him.
All in all, solid volume and penultimate on before Enies Lobby is destroyed.
Nico Robin gains hope once more and tells Luffy that she wants to live. Luffy and team take the mission of freeing her and fight with CP9 members. Again the are faced with unexpected powers and they show their amazing ability to learn from their opponent and take time to learn their weaknesses and defeat the CP9. Ussop plays an important rule of delivering the keys that will free Robin from her cuffs using his amazing shooting abilities to show that even if he doesn't have much strength in one to one compat he still a very important part of the team.
The previous volume had some comedy to it but now we're right back to drama and tension and stakes - and what a finish! Over a decade and a half, and this remains Usopp's finest moment. Great job.
One Piece, Vol. 43 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (410–419) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Enies Lobby Arc. With the destruction of Enies Lobby imminent, all government personnel begin to evacuate. Meanwhile, the Straw Hats continue fighting and, with the exception of Monkey D. Luffy versus Rob Lucci, defeat the remaining members of Cipher Pol 9 (CP9). With their battles won, they team up and hurry to stop Nico Robin from being taken past the point of no return, which they succeed as Robin is freed.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. It continues the Enies Lobby Arc as the fight between the Straw Hat Pirates and the Cipher Pol 9 are mostly resolved, except the main battle between Monkey D. Luffy and Rob Lucci continues. The Straw Hat Pirates receive many power-ups to their fighting styles as their hard-won battle improved their fighting styles.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 43 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
I really enjoyed the final few chapters of the volume: Robin's desperation and hope in her friends was really well portrayed, and the final few moments when all the Straw-Hat Pirates, spearheaded by Usopp, came to her rescue was brilliant; turning an average 3/5 volume into a well deserved 4/5.
(chapters 410-419: 5 stars) amazing. kid luffy is literally the cutest, don't with me! so happy they found a way for chopper to revert back to his regular forms. kaku and zero’s fight went on a bit long but i enjoyed it. at least two generations of despicable spandine men was unsurprising. i’m so happy that sanji’s words got through to usopp and that he focuses on his abilities that make him great and valuable instead of constantly comparing himself to his comrades. nico robin’s tears shadowed mine because everyone creating this huge war against the world government just to save her is astonishing but well deserved to save a friend.
ENIES LOBBY ARC - PART 4 1. THIS MOTHERFUCKER CLICKED THE BUSTER CALL TRANSPONDER SNAIL ON ACCIDENT????????
2. dude, what type of grip does luffy have on his slippers that they never fall off during his shenanigans/fights?
3. i really like that nami's power and her attacking technique is all her knowledge about the weather and the structure of the atmosphere and using it to her advantage, because it encompasses her role as a navigator again really well
4. do people who eat a devil's fruit already have full control over all their powers? how come kaku and kalifa already thought up all names and types of attacks to do? is it just simply an in the moment thing that the find cool and go for?
5. i think zoro should wear kohl at all times. (also, no matter how defeated and unmoving zoro might look on the ground, if there's a sword attack of any kind coming, he is to defend it.)
6. one of my favourite parts is that the grandma, the girl and the rabbit are just bystanders to all of this, watching and doing their own little shenanigans, completely unphased by everything. they're just here for the fun of it LOOOOL
The battle against CP-9 continues... for another full volume. After two volumes of pure fighting the pacing has gone out of wack and the momentum from Volume 41 has been lost. The fights are decent enough but they don’t do a lot of things that the previous volume hadn’t already done. Some characters pull abilities out of nowhere that don’t really make any sense for them to not have been used earlier. The ending is great, though, allowing for Usopp to have a stand-out moment and setting the stage for (what’s hopefully) the final showdown in the next volume.
Four CP9 have been defeated; Blueno, Fukuro, Kumadori and Kalifa.
The remaining battles: - Luffy vs Rob Lucci - Zoro vs Kaku - Sanji vs Jabra
Sanji defeats Jabra by using new technique; Diable Jambe. Zoro defeats Kaku by using new technique; Kyuutouryu: Asura.
Franky and Sogeking managed to save Robin from passing through the Gates of Justice.
Sogeking is simply the greatest sharpshooter in the world!!
そげきの島で (Sogeki no Shima de) On the Sniper Island 生まれたおれは (Umareta Ore wa) I was born 100ぱつ100ちゅ (Hyappatsu Hyaku Chū) 100 shots, 100 hits ルルララル〜♪ (Ru Ru Rara Ru〜♪) Lu lu lala lu〜♪

Yet again, I am vindicated that Usopp ( THE SNIPER KING) is my favorite One Piece character!!! 🖤🥺🖤 it’s impressive that it took so long for the Straw Hat group to finally drop the whole “Sniper King” cover lol Idk if I mentioned how really cool his disguise is, very badass. ✨🌟
Oh… and I do have to say that I really did enjoy Nami’s illusion manipulation with the climate baton, even if it was against a sub par villain. (imo)
Minus a star because the fights against each CP9 member is a little boring and drawn out, but idk how else Oda could better execute it.
the crew defeats the cp9 agents (except for lucci cause that battle is still going on) and arrive at the gates of justice just in time! sogeking and franky were cool as heck in that last chapter!!
also, the face-off covers of cp9 and the straw hat pirates in volumes 42 and 43 are so cool. it worked great during the arabasta arc with volumes 21 and 22 and i'm happy oda is doing the same with enies lobby
THIS ONE IS ALSO FUCKING GAS BRO. i forgot just how amazing enies lobby is man. ALL OF THEM FUCKING POWERED UP. zoro 9 sword style??? SANJI DIABLE JAMBLE FUCKING FIRE FOOT. LUCCI AND LUFFY … and OFC robin wanting to live… franky protecting her … and the GOAT SNIPERKING DOING WHAT ONLY HE CAN DO ‼️‼️ GO AND SAVE ROBIN ALREADY GUYS
