As Kami Eneru plans to obliterate Skypiea with all his unsuspecting followers on it, Nami can only stand by as he wipes out the Straw Hats. Switching allegiances in order to survive, all she can do is hope for a savior. Could the best defense against a deadly lightning bolt from above be a certain rubbery pirate?!
Eiichiro Oda (尾田栄一郎, Oda Eiichirō) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the manga and anime One Piece.
As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

welp. It took Luffy getting into the ring with Kami Enel to realize that yes, rubber cancels out electricity… (smooth brain to the max) ☠️
What I really appreciate from this arc is how grand-scale it feels. There’s Upper Deck, inside that there’s the ruins of Shandora that is hidden a level below, there’s The Ark Maxim - the huge flying arc on its way towards the hidden golden bell, and then there’s the island of Skypedia that is being wrecked by Enel’s omnipotent lightening bolts. Feels so expansive.
I wish Enel himself was more batshit crazy. His reasoning to outright destroy Skypedia in favor of new lands is beyond logical, so it would make more sense for him to abandon that facade of stoicism and just let loose because he is (actually) insane.
One Piece, Vol. 30 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next ten chapters (276–275) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Skypiea Arc. To save her own skin, Nami convinces Eneru to take her with him. They leave for the golden ship, leaving the defeated combatants to their fate. After Monkey D. Luffy escapes from the giant snake, and learns what Eneru has done to his crew, he goes to meet Skypiea's god in battle.
Although initially confident that he can beat Luffy, Eneru soon finds that he is no match for the Straw Hat captain: Luffy's rubber body makes him immune to all of Eneru's lighting attacks. Rather than fight, Eneru traps Luffy in a prison of gold and throws him overboard, expecting the gold's weight to keep him away.
Eneru sets sail and prepares to destroy the island in the sky. He is briefly impeded in his efforts by the remaining Straw Hats, Usopp and Sanji, giving the inhabitants of Angel Island, who have learned of Eneru's plans, time to evacuate.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part, it is written and illustrated rather well. It continues the Skypiea Arc where the plans of Eneru is coming into fruition as he plans to leave Skypiea on his golden boat and to destroy the floating island as he escapes with the treasure of the Golden City.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 30 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.
Eneru's face, when he goes up against Luffy, is absolutely priceless. This doesn't conclude the story arc just yet but builds up the finale as Eneru moves forward with his plans for Skypiea while going up against members of Luffy's crew. Funny and action-packed, you're definitely in for a treat!
For the past three volumes he's been touted, and shown, as absolutely invincible. No one could even touch him. Few could take more than one hit from him. His sense of superiority, his divine delusions, reinforced over and over again.
And then Luffy shows up, and all of that crumbles. Great build-up and a perfect payoff. The highlight of this volume - one of the highlights of the story as a whole.
But there's other things to like, too. Robin gets a few more moments for herself: she's not yet officially a member of the Straw Hats, maybe, but the story and all the characters treat her as such. She doesn't call them by names yet, but she still helps out the best she can. Usopp and Sanji and Nami, too, each get a moment or two. I'm still annoyed by how little the lightning does on a human body, but Sanji got a really raw line out of it so this time I can forgive it. He's showing some hyper awareness here as well: foreshadowing of his eventual Observation Haki mastery? Or just a gag?
Speaking of foreshadowing, what about the snake? The impossibility of Luffy showing up right inside its eyes? Does that, too, imply power greater than mere rubber? Not for me to say. Things look so different in retrospect, after nearly twenty years.

Finally Luffy is out of that snake! Honestly this is streching it because that fight could've been closed in this book I think. But whatever, I'll deal ^^ It's nice that most of the crew is finally in the same place again.
Love it. But I gotta say, the humbling of Enel is a little too strong. I mean, Luffy makes him look like a loser. This is yet another example of Oda's villain problem. But oh well, this was all still entertaining.
Imperialist and crazy narcissists pretending to be gods are really out here destroying entire civilizations, huh. Wonder how Luffy and the Straw Hats are gonna survive this one. I do think Croc is a better villain and that Alabasta is a better arc though.
I liked it. I have a problem, even though this book was action-packed and interesting I got bored. Maybe I was way too tired while reading it but I was just flipping pages and not feeling any tension. The Connie's speech didn't work on me and I think that it was rushed. I understand that it is appropriate to the genre but I am used to One Piece being better at this sort of things.
I'm liking all the little bits of lore that keep peeping out every so often in the arcs, particularly around the types of fruit etc. However my favourite bit about this volume was the Ace one slide side story. So funny.
Ben Zoro’nun olmadığı ciltleri sevemiyorum sanırım. Sanji’cim geldi ama günü kurtaramadı. Enel’in gemisini falan baya sevdim. İlk başlarda pat pat Enel’i dövebilmesinde çok beklendikti. Enel’in ona karşı koyacak bir şey bulması da öyle. Ama sıktı açıkçası. Luffy yensin de gidelim artık modundaydım. Artık bu Enel’li son cilt olsun isterdim. Bu arada Enel nasıl güçlü şerefsiz, nasıl yenecek Luffy cidden merak ediyorum.

This it it! While Nami make s a kinda deal with Enel to escape, Luffy comes in to save the day and NAMI! He fights Enel and wow the fight is epic, its thunder vs rubber and thunder can't defeat him but he still manages to find a way to keep him pounding but by other means Enel throws luffy off the shild, people finally realize this false god that is Enel and prepare ways to escape from the island, while the others- Usopp and Sanji come to rescue Nami, and Luffy even despite falling gets back up again to fight Enel. Until the thunderstorms start and we learn more about Enel and his motivations. Its a good arc tbh and it gets better now that everything is fleshed out.
A really fun volume where Eminem has finally taken out most of the island but luffy is still standing. This mighty creature of lightning feels undefeated, until Luffy shows him rubber can't get electrocuted, then it becomes a real fun fight.
