He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

It's made clear that to merge a shadow in you is to also acquire their powers and special abilities, as demonstrated with Luffy being made a master swordsman. Yet in the actual fight, both Nightmare Luffy and Shadow Asgard Moria mostly just punch each other with super strength. Rather a missed opportunity: would have been nice to see Luffy employ all manner of weird special tricks to win the fight.
This volume is where Thriller Bark really begins to lag, in other ways, too. You've got two fakeout wins, only for the fight to continue anyway. Some good backstory near the beginning, the impressive first showing of Bartholomew Kuma, helped keep things above the four-star mark - but not by too much.

Sigo avanzando, ya creo que el próximo volumen es el último y se viene un momento épico jeje
Pues, en este volumen sigue el contraataque, solo queda el zombi con la sombra de Luffy y Moria. La dificultad ahora está, en que Moria está en el estómago de Oars, en un pequeño compartimiento y lo está ayudando al manipular su sombra, ahora sí que se puede estirar.
Pero luego de algunas cosas, ya saben el punto débil de los zombies (aparte de la sal) y es que ellos no sienten dolor pero su cuerpo igual lo está recibiendo así que usan su astucia y al recién llegado nightmare luffy (que absorbió 100 sombras y ahora es más poderoso) y derrotaron a Oars.
Ahora queda Moria, quien en un arrebato absorbió las sombras de todos los zombies de la isla y está descontrolado.
Adicionalmente, nos enteramos que hay otro shichibukai en la isla, Bartolomew Kuma.

One Piece, Vol. 49 continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next eleven chapters (471–481) of the on-going manga series.
This tankōbon continues the Thriller Bark Arc. While Monkey D. Luffy chases Geckō Moria across Thriller Bark, his crew does their best to defeat Oars. Though they almost succeed, Oars is quickly joined by Moria, who gives him the advantage he needs to decimate the crew.
Luffy, unaware that Moria has turned back and joined Oars, runs into a group of pirates who have lost their shadows. Seeing Luffy as their hope for freedom, they provide him with the means to bring down Moria: a hundred shadows they have managed to take back from the island's zombies.
With that Luffy engages Oars, and with the help of his crew, they finally defeat the giant. However, the Thriller Bark's course having been left unattended, as they noticed that the fog begins to thin and the sun begins to rise. Moria, seeing this as an effective way to get rid of the Straw Hats, as when sunlight shines on those without shadows instantly dies, so he absorbs all the island's shadows to kill time until sunrise.
This tankōbon is written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda. For the most part it is written and constructed rather well. It is another battle tankōbon where the Straw Hat Pirates are battling Oars – a giant zombie to free Monkey D. Luffy's soul, while the captain goes after Geckō Moria to have him release all the shadows he possesses and return them to their original owners. Eventually, Oars is defeated, but dawn is approaching and those without shadows die instantly in sunlight and Moria has absorbed all the shadows he possess.
All in all, One Piece, Vol. 49 is a wonderful continuation to a series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

The Straw Hats try to take down Luffy’s shadow monster! A fun and exciting battle that really showcases how the crew fights together!

This one was quite fun, with the strawhats having no option but to defeat Oz who also has Moria sitting inside him and kinda protecting him through the shadows and giving him rubber-man like powers, its upto them to defeat this guy and they fight and it has great battle scenes with each member getting a spotlight and they try it all but still fall! And then when all is down, enter nightmare luffy and its awesome and they fight and seems like he had defeated Oz, but he gets back up again and so the team uses a joint tactic and in a way defeat Oz but Moria is still there and he has assimilated with the shadows..like all of them on thriller back into him and its gonna be epic! The Strawhats vs the Schibukai! Amazing volume and the art is freaking gorgeous and its a bit of time consuming but really enjoyed it a lot!

Shichibukai, Batholomew Kuma arrived at Thriller Bark to warn Moria about Straw Hat Pirates. Moria will become like Crocodile who lost in the hand of Luffy. At the same time, Crocodile place was replaced by Marshall D. Teach or Blackbeard.
Straw Hat Pirates is defeated one by one by Oz. Luffy was helped by a group of pirates who hide in the dark forest due to their shadows being stolen. They put 100 shadows inside Luffy's body. Nightmare Luffy is born.
Nightmare Luffy with the help of Straw Hat Pirates managed to defeat Oz. Moria then absorbed 1000 shadows and ready to fight again. Morning is coming!

This volume was full intense moments, like most of them, but it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout every moment. The characters never give up despite the circumstances and believe in one another to get each job done. They had to act fast and counter ever counter attack by the enemy. I feel like this volume was about perseverance and trust. It is almost impossible to put the book down because every page leaves you wanting more. Every picture is full of detail and very dramatic. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves adventure, friendship, and a good fight!

I have never been a fan of this fight. I don't know why Oda never really developed Moría as a villain, he was just there, evil for the sake of being evil with a superstrong monster at his disposal.
