A Christmas gathering of friends at Willoughby Chase, a picturesque estate in the Grafton, New York Mountains, Mavis and Trevor Gordon, proprietors, sounds like a perfect holiday get-away. Yet, tensions prevail while faults and imperfections of guests are magnified by the feigned celebratory mood of their normally carefree hosts. In addition, Mavis Gordon discovers thievery at her beloved Mansion. Darby Potter, a guest and a member of a Security Task Force and Profiling service, is asked by Mavis to investigate. During this time, a series of adverse events erupt and a murder occurs. Enter P.I. Tony Pastore, hired by Trevor Gordon, who, along with Potter, investigates the guests and dark secrets are revealed. Any one of them could be the murderer. Welcome to Willoughby Chase and a thriller reminiscent of Agatha Christie.
A Christmas celebration is announced by proprietors Mavis and Trevor Gordon of Willoughby Trace. It will be a gathering of an interesting collection of longtime friends. Prior to the gathering there have been some thefts on the property and one of the invitees has been asked to look into it. I admit I really liked one of the main characters in the book but things can be very deceiving. And there were a lot of people in the book with serious issues. Are we really sure that justice was served? I highly recommend this book I won from the author. Thank you to Patricia Crandall from a reader on the other side of the Hudson River.
A short fast paced whodoneit Christmas mystery in which long time family friends gather but one is a murderer, possibly in co-hoots with another holiday guest. PI Tony Pasture is called in to help investigate as he is not required to play by the police detective rules.
Pasture interviews all guests multiple times to make assessments to reveal the killer in their midst! Who did it? Read it to find out!
This is a good reads give away. I was a quick read and I did not like who the murderer was and some of the characters seemed to get personalty changes by the end of the book
