The Runaway Sheep, is a short, but fun adventure story about three sheep who have dreams to explore beyond the farm. However, once they make it to the big city, they realize that they've made a mistake.
I waffled on counting this as a book read but, ultimately, decided to count it for 3 reasons: 1. It made me cry 2. It’s adorable 3. The theology of this book is simple but has staggering depth to it. It serves as a very interesting Biblical defense of soteriology as it has been historically understood by Eastern Orthodox Christians and shows that such a view is not necessarily at odds with the historical Western view of soteriology as we are prone to understand the Bible. Obviously, this depth isn’t something you’d explain in any detail to the book’s intended audience, but it also serves as a powerful example that the gospel is simultaneously simple enough for a child to understand and so complex that its full richness can never be uncovered by a single person at least on this side of heaven.
