Secrets. Tragedy. Grace. Mercy. Redemption. This book was filled with beautiful lyrical writing and atmospheric descriptions (picturing the Meadowlands and the Blakely Farm in my imagination). A propulsive family drama where the characters will stay in my heart and mind. I believe I have found one of my favorite books of 2025!

It was a nostalgic read for me because the main character Sybil, who I adored, reminded me so much of my grandmother who passed away 6 years ago. She was the last person who wrote me letters. My grandmother was a big fan of letter writing like SybiI. I laughed and cried throughout the story. It made me appreciate how important expressing yourself through writing is to some people. Thank you to author Virginia Evans for writing this story!

We are all going through something, which is why family dramas appeal so much to me. I am filled with hope reading about flawed characters who journey through their struggles and eventually find redemption and/or forgiveness. The author captured tough subject matter in a sensitive manner and developed all of the characters so well. An amazing debut you don’t want to miss out on!

The story appeared to be complicated with many people and their criminal activities but author Cannell did an excellent job of keeping timelines organized and keeping me engaged. It was a well researched and detailed book. It sickened me the way these two former NYPD Detectives eluded justice for so long. If you enjoy true crime, this book is for you!

I have been putting off writing this review for a long time because I knew I would not be able to adequately express my thoughts about this amazing and powerful novel. It was a beautiful story about friendship, betrayal and ultimately hope. This was an in-depth coming of age and character study using historical details that explored two women and their experiences in the Iranian culture. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the setting, themes and writing style. If you enjoy stories of women, sacrifice, friendship and culture, this book is for you.

She wrote a roller coaster of a love story that shattered my heart to pieces and then gave me the ending I needed! I stayed up so late finishing the book and then couldn’t sleep thinking about what I just read. This novel gave me November 9 vibes, which I enjoyed. This is my second 5 star read by Paige. I also loved Only Love Can Hurt Like This. I highly recommend if you enjoy emotional love stories.
