A Kiss to Remember was a quick, cute read featuring a fake dating romance.
When Declan Howard walks up to Remi Donovan's desk and asks for a kiss, she's sure the man has lost his mind. But that's not about to stop her from kissing the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on. After Declan asks Remi to pretend to date him, Remi agrees when she realizes it will get her mother off her back. But as their charade goes on, something real sparks between them forcing them to confront their pasts if they want a chance at a future.
Fake dating is one of my favorite romance tropes and I loved that aspect of Declan and Remi's relationship. The chemistry between them is amazing and I loved their fun, flirty banter. Remi recently got out of a bad relationship that ended in a very public way leading to Remi wanting to stay out of the dating world for a while. Declan has only been interested in hook ups since his divorce as his ex-wife put him through the ringer. Going in, both Declan and Remi thought their fake romance would be the answer to all of their problems but it didn't take long for the pair to fall for each other. The one thing that frustrated me about their relationship was how unwilling Declan was to admit he'd fallen for Remi and wanted more. Remi on the other hand was honest about how her feelings had changed and refused to settle for less than she felt she deserved. Thankfully, Declan gets his act together fairly quickly and I ultimately really enjoyed the pair's romance.
Overall A Kiss to Remember was a fun read and I would highly recommend it for readers looking for a cute contemporary. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series, Christmas in Rose Bend, soon....more

Lady Viola Hextall is being sent to New York after creating a minor scandal back in London. Trapped on a ship with nothing to do, Violet longs for everything she left behind. When she one day starts a conversation with the ship’s surgeon, Nathaniel Shaw, for lack of anything better to do, Violet discovers the man is far more interesting than she anticipated. Nathaniel initially believed Violet was nothing more than a society girl, but as the two get to know one another, he finds she’s far more clever than he thought. With each passing day their connection grows stronger and soon Nathaniel finds he wants Violet to choose him instead of the duke she’s set on.
Violet’s family only became part of the aristocracy when her father inherited a distant relative’s title. Due to the family’s new status among the peerage, they are often looked down upon as not good enough. Violet longs for the day where she will no longer be looked down on and can be judged instead for who she is. Nathaniel wanted to be a surgeon for most of his life and he has worked hard to become quite good at the profession. Nathaniel is tired of the way society works in London and wants to head to America so he can finally have the chance to have something he can call his own.
Violet and Nathaniel’s relationship was delightful from the start with the two engaging in some wonderful, if improper, conversations. Nathaniel knows Violet is a lady and doesn’t believe she could actually be interested in someone like him, a man without a title, so he spends his time trying to shock her to drive her away. I liked that Violet surprised him with her willingness to learn and her genuine interest in his work. The chemistry between the pair was fantastic and I loved the scenes where they were able to sneak some time alone. I thought the ending of the book perfectly suited the situation and I loved the epilogue with the letter Violet wrote explaining everything.
A Lady’s Guide to Skirting Scandal is a great companion to the Lords of Worth series and I’m looking forward to reading the final book in the series, You’re the Earl That I Want, soon....more

I found the storyline in this one to be pretty interesting, the military comes to town and closes down a hiking trail with no explanation. There were a ton of scenarios for why it could have happened and I felt the one the author chose was plausible. The only aspect I didn't find believable was the ending. (view spoiler)[I don't see the military just letting Reacher walk out of there after he went into a restricted zone like that. (hide spoiler)]

Night Owl was an enjoyable read featuring a romance between a woman who doesn't want to leave her small town and a man who can't wait to get out.
Jenna O'Donnell only wants three things in life; to live in Tamarack, Alaska for the rest of her life, for Ted Godfrey to drop off the face of the Earth, and Brad Fraser. The only things Brad Fraser wants is to get out of Tamarack, Alaska, for Ted Godfrey to be fired, and to never fall in love. When Brad takes Jenna out for a night of owl watching, his planned escape goes up in flames.
Night Owl is different from the rest of the series in that this one is just contemporary romance as opposed to romantic suspense. Personally I missed the suspense elements as those are one of my favorite parts of the series. Jenna and Brad have been attracted to one another since Brad's arrival in town three years ago. Jenna was open about her interest while Brad tried to suppress his as he knew he wasn't planning on staying in town forever. At the start of this novella, Jenna and Brad's relationship finally moves forward. I loved the chemistry between these two and the steamy scenes were fantastic with just the right amount of them for the length of this book. I liked how the characters handled Brad's plan to leave town and thought the ending was perfect for the two.
The end of Night Owl sets up the events of Incriminating Evidence and I'm looking forward to seeing how that plot plays out after what happened here.
Overall Night Owl was a great read and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Incriminating Evidence, soon....more

Season of Second Chances features a cute second chance romance set at Christmas.
Claire Hanlin hopes to get in and out of Chicago as quickly as possible as it reminds her too much of the man she almost married two years ago. But when a snowstorm strands Claire there on Christmas Eve, she unexpectedly finds herself staying with the man she left behind. Logan Dawes never got over Claire and her staying with him is the perfect opportunity to win her back. It doesn't take long for the pair to fall back into bed, but can Claire trust that Logan has really changed?
Claire and Logan were engaged two years ago before Claire ended things due to Logan's inability to prioritize anything over his work. I just want to comment that I liked that the couple broke up for an actual reason as opposed to some second chance romances I've read where they break up for seemingly no reason. The pair reconnect after they both have flights cancelled out of Chicago and Logan spots Claire in the airport as she unsuccessfully searches for a hotel. I liked the immediate connection between them despite the awkwardness of their broken engagement. Their chemistry is amazing and for such a short story, there were quite a few steamy scenes that were very well done. Initially the issues they had in the past get in the way of rekindling a relationship, which did make me frustrated with Logan, but I was happy with the way they resolved everything in the end.
Overall Season of Second Chances was a great read that's perfect for the holiday season....more

Love on the Coast was a delightful start to a new contemporary romance series set in Alaska.
Rachel Hempshaw stopped believing in fairy tales and myths a long time ago. As a writer for Dispelling the Myth magazine, Rachel's job is to debunk legends at local tourist traps. Her next article has her heading to Port Serenity, Alaska to research Sealena the Serpent Queen. When her Alaskan cruise doesn't go as planned, Rachel has to find a new angle for her article. With the help of coast guard officer Callan Parks, Rachel begins her tour of Port Serenity. As Callan slowly chips away at Rachel's skeptical nature, she starts to wonder if happily-ever-after may not be a myth after all.
Growing up, Rachel's father chased the impossible which meant he was never around for Rachel. As a result of her father's actions, Rachel now actively tries to debunk these myths so another family doesn't have to go through what she did. After leaving the marines, Callan found himself the guardian of his five-year-old niece Darcy after his sister died. Becoming a single parent so suddenly has thrown Callan for a loop as he's constantly worried he's messing everything up.
Rachel and Callan's first meeting was not at all what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. The attraction between these two was instantaneous and it doesn't take long for a deeper connection to form. Neither Rachel nor Callan know what to make of their sudden feelings and I enjoyed watching them work through it. Rachel and Callan are opposites in many ways but primarily it comes down to she's a pessimist while he's an optimist. This does cause a few issues in their relationship as Rachel has a hard time letting her walls down to let Callan in. I liked the way the pair worked things out in the end and overall enjoyed their romance.
Love on the Coast was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to picking up the first full-length book in the series, Sweet Home Alaska....more
