Yes, You Can Wear Long Shorts (as Long as You Do It Like This)

For the past few years, we've seen shorts get ever shorter and trimmer, matching menswear's general affinity for a slim silhouette. But thanks to a combination of athleisure's rising popularity, the slouchy-pant trend, and an embrace of dirtbag style, the longer, leaner short is on the rise, as it were.

Just look to hip-hop artist Fabolous (left) and football star Victor Cruz (right), spotted at yesterday's Public School fashion show. Both men are sporting variations on the longer length, with Fabolous giving it a distressed-denim spin and Cruz using a short jogger-pant sub-in. Both looks are a cool way to mix up your shorts game this summer, and a new technique to add to your warm-weather bag of tricks.

But don't just take it from these two. Most importantly, designers are embracing the trend, which means that you can, you know, get yourself a pair of these newer elongated shorts. Here's four to choose from:

Acne Studios Fleau navy shorts, $270, available at acnestudios.com

Givenchy pinstriped bonded organza shorts, $479 (was $805)

Robert Geller black Moritz short, $169.50 (was $339),

Public School black Check Harbin shorts, $191 (was $360)
