What You're Actually Buying

Not a photo. A piece you won't find twice.

Every image on this site is a limited edition — meaning what it gets you is different from what you'd get off a poster site, even if you can't tell from a thumbnail.

01

Something that runs out

Every image is printed in a numbered edition of 50 or fewer, then retired for good. Buy print 12 of 50, and there will only ever be 49 others like it in the world — not 49 million.

02

A print that outlasts the wall

High-quality archival inks on fine art paper, printed on a high-resolution large format inkjet printer and rated to hold their color for a century or more. Your grandkids will be arguing over who inherits it, not why it faded.

03

A story for the people who ask

Every piece comes with the story behind it — where it was shot, whose land it was on, what nearly went wrong getting the shot. Something better to say than "I bought it online."

04

One less thing to figure out

Numbered, certified, and made to order for the space you're putting it in — ship-ready, with a straightforward replacement if anything ever arrives damaged.

The Subject Matter

Four kinds of West, one point of view.

Danette shoots what's actually still out there — not staged, not styled. If it's in a photo, it was really parked, grazing, or standing in that light.

A tall desert yucca with spiked seed stalks against a dramatic cloudy sky, with two smaller yuccas beside it. Desert Born Series

Colorado, New Mexico, and Oklahoma landscapes and night skies — the kind of horizon that makes you stop the car.

The rusted door and hood of a vintage International pickup truck, with white daisies blooming in front of it. Rust and Memory

Vintage trucks and rat rods, rust and all — muscle and Americana, photographed with respect for the wear.

A tangle of leather tack — bridle, reins, and saddle straps — hanging against a horse's back and mane, in black and white. Working West

Horses and cattle mid-work, not posed — the daily rhythm of ranches that are still running as ranches.

A mare and her foal pause at a watering hole, the foal looking directly at the camera. Quiet Resilience

Mustangs and wildlife caught on their own terms, in territory that doesn't stay empty for long.

"I'm not chasing the shot everyone already has. I'm parked on the shoulder at 5am for the truck nobody's towed off yet, the horse that hasn't been named, the sky nobody else stayed out for." — Danette Steele

Why Collectors Trust the Work

Built for people who've been burned by "limited edition" before.

The fine art print market has a trust problem. Here's exactly what you're getting, no fine print required.

Numbered, with a certificate

Every print ships with a numbered certificate of authenticity. You'll know exactly which one of the edition is yours.

Archival, museum-grade materials

High-quality archival inks on fine art paper, printed large format — no fading in a sunny room, no yellowing in ten years.

Shot in the field, not staged

Private ranches, back roads, and weather most people wait out — nothing here is a studio setup.

Editions actually close

Once 50 sell, that image is done being printed. Permanently — not "limited" until demand picks up.

Before You Buy

The five questions everyone actually asks.

Yes — that's the whole point of archival printing. Every piece is printed with high-quality archival inks on fine art paper, using a high-resolution large format inkjet printer built for this kind of work. This is the same caliber of process museums and serious galleries print to, not the standard your average poster shop uses.

This site is home base — the full story behind each piece, and where the true limited editions live. My Fine Art America storefront handles print fulfillment for a broader range of sizes and materials on select images. If you want the numbered edition with its certificate of authenticity, this is where that lives.

Prints ship flat or rolled in reinforced packaging. If your order arrives damaged in transit or has a manufacturing defect, email me at danette.steele@proton.me within 7 days of delivery with photos of both the damaged piece and the outer packaging, and I'll send a replacement print at no extra cost. Framing is available on request for select sizes.

Every piece is printed and assembled to your exact size and finish, so all sales are final — I can't accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind or the wrong size chosen at checkout. That's exactly why I'd rather you ask first: tell me the room, the wall, and the light it gets, and I'll help you land on the right size and finish before you order.

I keep the ledger myself — every edition, every number, every buyer. Your print ships with a numbered certificate of authenticity matching its place in the edition, and I can tell you exactly how many of that image are left before you buy, not after.

Get In Touch

Ask before you buy — I'd rather you ask than wonder.

Tell me which piece caught your eye, what room it's going in, or what you're trying to solve for. I answer these myself, usually the same day.
