Robert S. Connett started off with a problematic childhood, where drawing and art in general, were the only form of escapism he would allowed himself until his teenage years, when he started experimenting with drugs.  Later in his life, losing his home and all of the art he had collected and produced, sent him in a spiral of despair.  As a consequence he stopped producing art for 10 years, eventually he found his way out of his depression, creating structure in his life and now paints and creates art on a daily basis.

Creature Pencil Sculptures, with a Peyote Stitch

Talented Artist Jennifer Maestre, originally drew inspiration from the sea urchin to create a form with her pencils and from there, it took off.  On her site she says that many different animals and objects stir her creativity, sometimes, she gets inspired by a previous sculpture.  Mistakes can be a fantastically new turn in the forms she constructs.  This is an extract from her site: "To make the pencil sculptures, I take hundreds of pencils, cut them into 1-inch sections, drill a hole in each section (to turn them into beads), sharpen them all and sew them together. The beading technique I rely on most is peyote stitch."

Temporary 3D Anamorphic Street Art Creature Drawings

Self-taught Artist David Zinn, has been creating his original Street Art in and around Ann Arbor, since 1987.  He does take professional commissions that pay the bills, but loves walking around town and once a spot captures his attention, he starts drawing.  Zinn does not go out with a specific image in mind, he lets the sidewalks and the walls, drive the process.  The video below, is an interview with Zinn in which, he shares, with us, a lot more of his technique and the source of his inspiration.
