- Juan Preciado, a peasant and Pedro Páramo’s son, infulfillment of the last will of his mother, arrived on foot toComala looking for his father. During his journey, another man hadjoined him; the traveler turned out to be another ofPáramo’s sons. He told Juan Preciado that their fatherwas a “kindled rancor” and that he was dead. Preciadofound only one other person in Comala, Eduviges Dyada, an oldfriend of his mother, and she gave him shelter. The woman was dead,as was the companion of Preciado during the journey.
