Thinking of the Ukraine (T)

I thought I'd do a tribute table to the Ukraine.  Since their flag is blue and yellow I concentrated on those colors.
I feel like the whole world is looking at the situation from afar and feeling helpless.

As you can see we still have snow here, not unlike the Ukraine. I can't imagine being forced away from my home and to live out of bags and backpacks.  It's unreal.

I didn't have sunflowers for my arrangement but I added them through my place settings.  Ukraine is a very large importer of the world's sunflower oil exports.

This would be a wonderful summer tablescape but I felt the need to do this now.

My hairdresser is from the Ukraine.  She's been in America for 10 years.  She and her daughter came over after she married an American.  None of her family could come over to America and both her parents have since passed as well as her only sister.  I know she is overwhelmed with emotion about all of this.  The salon is sponsoring bake sales and other fundraising efforts.

Footnote: I didn't use napkins to help keep the design simple.

Pray for the Ukraine, they sure can use it.

I'm including a link that her daughter has set up for donations.
She has been able to deposit money directly to their family and friends through a banking app.

October Highlights - Dining With Fall Colors (T)

Greetings everyone!  Fall is coming on quickly around here so I decided to embrace it!

Deep yellow, deep red, pumpkin and green made for a colorful table!

Reviving some dishes that also repeat the colors in the placemats.  The napkins are from Williams Sonoma (several years ago) and the mugs are too.

We'll have warmed cider in the mugs with a cinnamon stick!

A stop at Costco and I couldn't resist this arrangement of 2 dozen roses in these gorgeous colors!

So beautiful, they bring me great joy!

We'll have a sausage casserole and apple pie afterwards!

Not my best looking but I cut out a big apple in the center and oaks leaves for around the sides.

Ready to dine!

Pumpkins & Gourds in a Pumpkin!

This is my first dive into fall decorating!

I found this metal pumpkin at Michael's and immediately had this idea to place a group of flowers and pumpkins in it.  It's designed to hold a candle votive but I had Dan drill up through the bottom of the candle votive holder so I could place my flowers inside of it.

I bought two of these but there was only room for one in the hole we created.  Then I cut the other one into individual pieces and poked them in.

I bought this cake/serving tray at Hobby Lobby.  I like the farmhouse look it brings in.

So this is my first dive into fall decorating, it's transitional since I still have the sunflowers displayed!

A little Garden and a little Household Deco!

I'll start off with this lovely Oriental lily called Captain Tricolore'!  I planted them this spring.  It kind of gotten taken over by my hanging basket of Lofos vine.

Next up is my little trike planter. I had to cut it back a couple of weeks ago because it was way overgrown.

My Flamingo greets me in the morning!
 Late summer deco!

I made an arrangement of (faux) sunflowers for the season!

My recent tablescape included a tablecloth with these roosters and I also ordered the table runner to put on my bureau.

I have a thing for flying pigs!

Lastly an arrangement of African Daisies (Voltage Yellow Osteospermum).

Sunflowers and Slow-Cooker Chicken

I've been lazy about posting things from my home lately.  I put this area together a couple of weeks ago.  I like to use sunflowers as decorating with the late summer to fall transition.

I found this chicken on markdown at Pier 1.  Had my eye on it and decided to go for it.

I kept the blue and white plates up and added these new red dishes with sunflowers.  I re-used my metal cylinder for some faux sunflowers.

I have some very large white dishes from the same manufacturer that I've used in the past.  I fell for these red ones and ordered them on Amazon.  If I can I like to do something different each year.  The little chicken wire candle votives are old- from Pottery Barn quite a few years back.  I had slipped a pieces of a sunflower in the bottom of them and there they've stayed!

The corrugated tin cylinder was from Pottery Barn 1 or 2 years ago.  I added the burlap and twine to give it a little more substance.

I found this cute checked planter with sunflowers on clearance at Pier 1 a little while back.

I need to do a tablescape and use this!

I could have sold that white rooster about 20 times now.  Each year some contacts me through my blog about wanting to buy it.  I found it at Cracker Barrel back in 2013.

I'm not quite ready to warm up to the fall tones completely but it won't be long!

I made a dinner using the crockpot on Sunday and my first Apple pie this year!
I can definitely recommend the recipe and here is the link:

Slow Cooker Balsamic Honey-Glazed Chicken and Vegetables
"link"

My images aren't as perfect as theirs but it was as delicious as I hoped!
I used 6 chicken thighs instead of 4 and increased the vinegar and honey a tad because I also had more potatoes and carrots in the pot.

I made it just as they said and we loved it.  The recipe calls for pouring the liquid into the pan and reducing it which I did but it didn't thicken up much.  Either way it was a nice Sunday meal!

I used one of those plastic molds to press on the pie dough.

Thinking of the "Big Apple" today and remember 9/11.
God Bless all those who perished and those who came to their rescue.
