I’m incredibly tenacious, resourceful, willing to take risks, and I love to teach as I learn. What this means for you is that if I can accomplish something, I believe you can too! I try to do everything with a sense of humor and hope you laugh along with me, or at me, or both! My friends describe me as authentic, real, and down-to-earth. I’m here to show you that making your home your own doesn’t have to be overly complicated or expensive. In a nutshell, I don’t take myself too seriously–I improvise as I go along. Most importantly, I believe that great design isn’t about chasing trends or perfection but about creating meaningful spaces that tell a story. I’m here to help you tell your own home story and prove that elegance can be approachable, and luxury can be lived in!
Home Stories A to Z was originally entitled The Stories of A to Z, after my two sons Asher (20) and Zephan (18). When I started the blog, Zephan had just turned one and Asher was three years old. I wasn’t sure exactly what to share on the blog at first, but my love for homemaking soon took over! At the time, we had just purchased, gutted, and flipped a 100 yr old Italianate twin home with the help of some entrepreneurial friends. Our new neighborhood was experiencing an urban renewal, and I freelanced as an interior decorator with my entrepreneurial friends and documented some of that work on the blog. This gave me the confidence to step out and follow my dreams of sharing online all of the many ways I was creating beauty on a budget in my home and neighborhood and Home Stories A to Z was born!
Our family currently lives outside of Greenville, South Carolina in a home in the country. It’s quite a change from the city but we love the tranquility of country living!
There are many ways to follow along! I encourage you to follow me on my social media channels. I can be found under the handle @homestoriesatoz. You can also subscribe to my monthly newsletter. All of my social media buttons can be found at the top of the blog on a laptop, or under the three little lines on mobile!
Over the years, Home Stories A to Z has been featured in many major publications, inspired readers, and built a community that shares a love for spaces that tell a story! I’ve collaborated with numerous top brands, created viral DIY projects, and helped homeowners transform their spaces with approachable elegance. But my biggest accomplishment? Creating a space where readers feel inspired, empowered, and excited to make their homes a reflection of their own stories.Â
Here are some of my favorite accolades! In 2017, I won a bathroom design competition hosted in Chicago by Delta Faucet and with the prize money I designed and remodeled our primary bathroom. I am a Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker and have been nominated ten years in a row and counting. I’ve partnered with BH&G on several sponsored in-print campaigns including this Boursin Chicken Puff Pastry Hand Pies Recipe. I have also worked as a brand ambassador in the past for the following companies: Christmas Tree Shops, Sherwin Williams, Gladiator, Pier 1, Shaw Floors, Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart, Waverly Inspirations, Kirkland’s, Birch Lane, and Lowe’s. I competed in the White Room Challenge: La-Z-Boy Design Dash which was so much fun and taught me a lot about space planning! I worked as a blog contributor for Homes.com, Lowes Creative Ideas, Houzz.com, and 3M DIY.
In 2012, I helped cofound the Haven Conference, an annual DIY/Home bloggers conference in Atlanta, GA. I am exceedingly proud of all of the bloggers, brands, and ad networks who furthered their careers because of Haven’s inception and success!Â
My projects and tips have been featured in several print publications including: Pioneer Woman (fall porch), American Farmhouse (breakfast room), Better Homes & Gardens (bathroom), People magazine (Christmas porch), Better Homes & Gardens Kitchens + Baths (kitchen), This Old House (half bath), HGTV Magazine (bathroom), Woman’s Day (backyard), All You Magazine (living room) and online by BHG, Country Living, Lowe’s, Pottery Barn, Birch Lane, HGTV, Apartment Therapy, etc.Â
I only collaborate with brands and products that organically work for me and my audience. If interested in partnering with me, feel free to reach out on my contact form.
My design style can best be described as “Lived-in Luxury with a Story to Tell.” I blend a mix of cottage charm with classic traditional elements, and adore rich architectural details. I create spaces that feel both refined and welcoming. I major in making high-end style approachable and budget friendly!
My husband and I recently visited Scotland and all of the pubs, palaces, gardens, architecture, and countryside greatly inspired me to add more layered, timeless, and cozy elements to every space! Overall, I create rooms where beauty meets function and every element feels curated, intentional, and effortlessly sophisticated. Â
