Over the course of 18 years, John Smith was the longest running crew member on the Canadian Broadcasting Company adventure series The Beachcombers (1971-1989).
I had done mostly drama and cop stories for the longest time. When I
first started doing Sci-fi in the early 1990s a hush would fall over
the crew when the term motion-control or green-screen came up. It was a
place everyone knew storytelling was going. These days we're doing
twenty to thirty set-ups per day. So much has changed.
