Famous for having an on-air "feud" with
Rove McManus, in which both men made
jokes about each other's height (or lack thereof) while taping their
respective shows in early 2006. The feud came to a head when Larry was
invited as a guest on Rove's talk show in June 2006. Rove challenged
Larry to a fight in sumo suits, which Larry accepted, and followed up
by making "short" work of Rove to steal a victory. When Larry's show
Wheel of Fortune (1981) was cancelled just days after his
Rove Live (2000) appearance, Rove
started a "Save Larry Emdur" campaign, in which he appeared unannounced
in the crowd on rival network morning show
Sunrise (2000), waving placards in
support of his new friend.
