Evelyn Hamann was introduced by Jürgen Brees (Vicco von Bülow's editor at Radio Bremen) to Loriot who was looking for a female protagonist for his new show "Loriot (I - VI)" in 1976. Jürgen Brees had seen Evelyn Hamann on stage in Brechts "Kleinbürgerhochzeit" in Bremen and was convinced of her talent. Although Loriot was looking for a small, chubby and blond housewife type Jürgen Brees recommended to invite Evelyn. Loriot agreed and Evelyn, who showed up in jeans and t-shirt for the audition, convinced Loriot of her talent and her versatility. It was the beginning of a 30 year long lasting working relationship.
