She played Black Mary in August Wilson's play, "Gem of the Ocean," at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois with Kenny Leon (Citizen Barlow); Greta Oglesby (Aunt Ester); Anthony Chisholm (Stolly Two Things); Paul Butler (Eli); Raynor Scheine (Rutherford Selig); and Peter Jay Fernandez (Caesar) in the cast. Marion McClinton was director. David Gallo was scenic designer. Costanza Romero was costume designer. Donald Holder was lighting designer.
