The Housewives

Harmony Films, now distributed under the Erigo umbrella, seems to have given up on the narrative cinema of its salad days, evidenced by "The Housewives", an effective all-sex offering masquerading as Couples/Romance for that fictitious rack jobber in the cloud.

Except for Dorcel star Ava Courcelles, who has lately been working for British directors, this is a new talent showcase, and the girls are up to snuff. Five lengthy vignettes cover the bases from lesbian sex to anal and group sex, with a glamorous tinge to the proceedings, notably in the costuming.

But I was left wondering at the starting gate about the premise, the hook. Seems that Scarlett Revell, one of the more obscure Harmony helmers, forgot what this project was to be about. There are no specific housewives present, just as in the hundreds of MILF movies made over the past 8 or 9 years the characters are rarely card-carrying MILFs cavorting with much younger boys. Generic porn seems to be the fall-back position.

But as a time-killer, "The Housewives" is quite suitable, delivering Brit porn in the manner of Euro porn with attractive ladies extremely well-dressed and uninhibited. None of the women is particularly distinctive, though the dark-haired specimens have a dark, almost sinister look in their eyes that should stand them in good stead if they follow in the footsteps of Franki and graduate to BDSM inflected porn for directors like Tanya Hyde or Kendo.

As relief from the tedium, I enjoyed a sex vignette starring Tony DeSergio built starting outdoors as if a diversion when out on a picnic before heading inside. This threesome is only moderately kinky, with blindfolded woman and a d.p. Video bears no credits on screen, but annotates the cast list on the DVD cover.
