Ausgewählte Rezension
This project was inspired by the discovery that Ennio Morricone was asked to compose music for the film "Crepa padrone, crepa tranquillo" in 1970. The movie was not completed and Was abandoned in mid-production.
In 1979, Giuseppe Zaccariello successfully produced "Duri a morire" (Tough to Kill) under the direction of Joe D'Amato, featuring a completely new set of actors. Instead of Alain Delon, James Coburn, James Mason, or Marcel Bozzuffi, we ended up with Luc Merenda, Donald O'Brien, and Percy Hogan. Rather than having Ennio Morricone, we ended up with Stelvio Cipriani. However, rather than receiving a potentially iconic cult soundtrack from the early 70s, what we got was a somewhat lackluster and soon forgotten funky score. Many consider Morricone to be the greatest film composer of all time, with his most creative and impressive work occurring between 1967 and 1972. Therefore, a genuine Morricone enthusiast can only lament the fact that this soundtrack did not come to fruition.
Making the original project a reality is impossible, but striving to come as close to it as possible was the main inspiration for this new soundtrack. The music needed to have strength, be easily remembered, and have a unique quality. It needed to include some of the characteristic elements of Morricone's style at the time.
The project was restarted 9 years later with a totally different cast and crew under the title "Duri a morire" (Tough to Kill)
