It's been so long since my impression about our local cinema was ruined. The structure of a typical sinhala film (excluding a few slow cinemas and history chronicles) had grown ever so nauseating for me. From the beginning, our cinema was being inspired by indian films and because of that, songs and several other fancy stuff has now become inevitable staples.
Que Sera is persumably an experimental film. I guess it's normal for dark comedy films to be rare, however, this fim runs in a weird multilingual mode that I personally find as distractingly obnoxious. The gist is that, in Sri Lanka, English language is sort of weaponized. Many of Sri Lankans don't know a thing in English meanwhile the little community we refer to as "hi class" people speak in English to show-off. "Blok and Dino" would be standing light years ahead of what presentation method the scriptwriters were intending to execute in this movie. Maybe I have adapted my ears to some standard accent of English thanks to YouTube, I either struggle understanding what the cast is trying to say jumping between as many languages as they can including Tamil or even Hindi, or I don't give a damn cuz I just wanna waste my time in such a day that doesn't give make me feel like doing anything.
Following the habitual traditions, it introduces several songs and half of them made me puke my dinner out. Also every animation in here is sloppier than sloppy and I doubt if they are acceptable or not. There is no proper attention paid for colorgrading. If there were, I should be feeling the weight of horror. This film looks and sounds like a childish fantasy flick.
I just added one more star out of pity for the effort made. Nice try, but meh.
