Ted's godmother Rowena Bray travels to Canada. Her relationship with Jim Baillie ends and Rowena returns to Australia.
Ted's godfather Jim Baillie joins a special unit of the Canadian navy and is a lieutenant on a warship by the time the war ends.
Philip King joins the navy in England as a volunteer and is a captain on a warship by the time the war ends. Betty Mitchell returns to Australia and marries. Philip King remains a bachelor for the rest of his life.
William Stein reaches his goal and loses 20 kg during the voyage. He serves in the U.S. army in Italy and later on becomes the Head of the Anthropology Department at Kansas University.
Alain Gerbault turns his back on the Western way of life and spends his days sailing the Pacific Ocean. He never meets Ahto again.
The Angermayers remain friends with Ahto who visits them several times. Their family still lives in the Galapagos.
Morson Macrae returns to Canada with his footage. 80 years after the voyage, his material is finally seen by the public.
