Stormy Daniels' fondness for genre films turns to the mystery film with "One Step Ahead", a crime movie that intrigued me and held my interest but suffered from a screenplay that is too subtle for its own good. It's the type of DVD that one has to go back and try and figure out due to an abrupt and almost cryptic ending.
Abella Danger is sympathetic as the heroine who disappears in far more straightforward a fashion than the influential hit "Gone Girl" but still in that territory. Seth Gamble is her husband, a character almost immediately identifiable as a bad guy, but Stormy keeps one guessing with the double-dealing and other ambiguous roles that contribute to the show's suspense.
Chief among these shady characters is Charlotte Stokely in a subtle performance - I still haven't figured out exactly what she's up to in the story but her sexual liaison with Abella is standout porn. Other beauties like Giselle Palmer add to the eroticism and acting is top-notch down the line.
