Handlung
WUSSTEST DU SCHON:
- WissenswertesIn a remarkable combination of racial stereotyping and interracial tolerance, Kennedy the Cop agrees to watch Farina's infant brother while the Gang go off hunting for buried treasure. In one scene, Kennedy is seen from the back apparently changing the baby's diaper. He picks up a bottle of talc and sprinkles some of the powder onto the fire hydrant next to him, noticing the powder is black. He looks at the bottle (seen in a close-up insert shot) which bears the label "Jewett Baby Talc (Flesh)", which sends the Cop into extended, good-natured laughter. A motherly black woman, also laughing at the scene, is standing nearby and comes over to Kennedy, engaging in a short, touching conversation about how she admires him for taking such an interest in the neighborhood children.

[repeated line]
The lunatic: I know, but I won't tell ya!

Moan & Groan, Inc. (1929)
** (out of 4)
A cop (Edgar Kennedy) tells the gang that they should dig for gold to get over their boredom. The kids end up in a house, which is rumored to be haunted, which it really isn't but it does have a creepy old man in it. The sixth sound short in the series falls back to a pretty weak level as the laughs are pretty hard to come by here. The biggest problem, once again, is the screenplay that really doesn't offer too many chances to laugh as it seems for the most part that everything is just extended to the point where nothing happens and things get boring very quickly. The best gag is when a balloon gets stuck to the back of Kennedy but outside this he doesn't even bring too much to the film.
