I'm giving this an extra star because of filming on location, not one process shot in front of a blue screen. The last half hour is pretty suspenseful, as is the beginning with the emergency landing in Beirut. Mickey Rooney's true character is slowly revealed, the layers peeling off to unveil an unlikable con. Lex Barker gets to stretch his acting chops a bit and the remaining flight crew actors are okay, though the aged flight engineer beating up a gangster is a bit much to believe. The camera takes us on a travelogue to tourist locations around early 1970s Beirut and that in itself helps hold the viewers attention. Aviation buffs will enjoy seeing the later model Comet jet, after the metal fatigue problems were fixed following the fatal crashes in the early 1950s.
