The story of Artyom Manvelyan as presented in this film is based on the real-life story of Soviet Armenian physicist Artyom Alikhanyan, who paved the way for the field of nuclear physics in the USSR. A member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, he is regarded as the father of Armenian physics and was the two-time winner of the USSR State Prize and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, as well as Lenin Prize. He was also a friend of dissidents such as Andrei Sakharov, Yelena Bonner, and Yuri Orlov.
