Jimmy's New Yacht

"Jimmy's New Yacht" is a short produced by Mack Sennett for Paramount and is directed by Del Lord...a man most famous for directing Three Stooges shorts.

In this film, a young lady is being wooed by two men.... Everett (Franklin Pangborn) and Jimmy (Ray Cooke). Everett is a college football hero...which is impossible to believe since the effete Pangborn plays the character. As for Jimmy, he just bought himself a boat...though oddly he calls it a yacht. It is NOT a yacht...it's a tiny dingy. But when he inexplicably invites his girlfriend and her family to go on his boat, suddenly the very obnoxious potential mother-in-law begins inviting lots of folks to come along as well...not knowing if the boat is large enough (which it clearly ISN'T) or if she has a right to do this in the first place. This film certainly is no laugh riot. But it is pleasant and entertaining and worth your time if you like old time comedy shorts.
