A Serenade by Proxy

A light-hearted farce which Alice Washburn as a romantic cook; William Wadsworth as the lovelorn hired man and Edward O'Connor, as the family coachman, make this very amusing. These players don't appear in every scene, and there is unreal comedy except when they do. Gertrude McCoy plays the daughter of the house; F.A. Lyon and Mrs. W. Erskine are her parents and Augustus Phillips is her lover. The story which they play seems better written than acted. It doesn't hold the attention very strongly for it hasn't enough life. The photography is good and, taken as a whole, the picture gives excellent entertainment. - The Moving Picture World, February 15, 1913
