Blind Men

I caught the pilot of this show at one of those "TV Preview" things, where they show two episodes of TV shows and you have to comment on what you liked or disliked. I remember I was sort of "mean" to "Blind Men," and probably came off as "hating" it. Others must have done the same, perhaps, since the pilot was made in about 1998, and as of 2001 it has not been picked up by any network television station. I doubt it ever will be, at least not how I saw it.

Going from what I saw, "Blind Men" was about a small company of men that sold window blinds. "Graham" is the best blind salesman until a new guy named Phi Carver(Patrick Warburton, who's so not committed to this show anymore that he has since gone on to be in Fox's "The Tick), who seems to be able to outsell him. Graham even tries to make work difficult for Phil by having him try to make a deal with some female client who had always refused them in the past... and Phil does. What will Graham do?

And as if his life wasn't difficult enough with Phil at work, it turns out they are neighbors, too, as Graham finds out after enduring comic "hijinks" of chasing a moving van so that he could make a sale. Oh, poor Graham.

It would have been sort of interesting to see how this show would have played out on network TV. Pilots are often supposed to end up being different from the actual series that develops from them, so the show could have come off with a bunch of new actors or a new location or something. From what I remember of the actors, they were okay(Wallace Shawn and Mr. Warburton are probably the most familiar to TV viewers. I STILL don't know who played "Graham." Some man with blond hair, is all I remember.), and the scripts were kind of ...stereotypical for TV shows. I did not care for the scene when Phil was handling that female customer, but I suppose the rest was passable, and while I doubt I would have been a FAITHFUL viewer of "Blind Men," there's no reason why some network couldn't have given it a chance.
