Pioneer in fictitious war movies in China

Unlike most war movies in China, this one is not based on true story, and thus is a fake. The movie makers of this film are the pioneers in the political liberalization in which imaginations can be maximized to develop artistic talents without fearing being accused of disrespect revolutionary history. However, this early attempt is obviously clumsy: how could orphans afford to have a dog as a pet when they could not even feed themselves?
