Witches of the Water

The opportunity was there for a good movie, but execution sucked.

My biggest marker go-to for the quality of a movie is this script ... this one was just "so-so". Could have been better, could have been a LOT better. I guess they didn't want to spend the small dollars up front to make a barely acceptable script into a really good script, and then hope the actors and director can make it better.

OK, the acting was OK-ish. A few were even good, but sadly for several roles I have seen much better in community theaters.

The directing and scene shots were also so-so at best. Probably better than many low budgets where, as an example, the director and cinematographer think every facile shot has to be zoomed ... thanks for that. But here's a simple hint to cheaply go up at least a point in rating ... BUY A TRIPOD. Every time you think it is waste of time to properly setup a shot, like a simple interior shot, and the audience has to deal with a bouncing handheld camera, you essentially tell the audience 'you aren't worth my time to do this correctly'. UGH. Go back to class.
