Actually on building a new life ... sort of. Even if our main character kind of tries everything to leave things as they were. Sometimes he does it actively and sometimes passively (like with his dad, where he knows which buttons to push - or rather what to say or not).
Now this is the seventh movie in the series if I'm not mistaken ... and it does not let up! Which is really something to behold - not just because I'm especially critical of other german movies, but because of the quality it has maintained throughout. And also because while it makes sense to have seen the other movies, each one of the series does work as a standalone movie too.
That is quite the achievement! And while the emphasis as always is on humor and comedy (yes even when there is death and murder), there is some sentimental aspect here. A feel of loss - that some people will really feel! And yet even in the most dramatic moment, there is humor to be found right after. Life goes on ... one way or another. And the movies keep on coming - and the film world is better for it! I should read the novels one day ... I know I should, but the movies do such a good job that I do not feel too much sorrow.
