Don't watch this

The Higurashi when they cry Visual Novel is amazing. The animes are great. This movie is a disaster. Don't waste your time.

First of all a 1.5 hour movie can't really do a 100 hour story justice. Secondly this movie as a standalone itself is a true disaster.

Don't waste your time watching it.

Instead go and play the Visual novel which is truly one of the best experiences I've had as far as story goes.

For English speakers I would recommend buying the Higurashi when they cry, and the Higurashi when they cry Rei on Steam, and then mod it using the 07th mod. This will add the latest console sprites and backgrounds, full Japanese voice overs, lipsync and about 13-15 EXTRA FREE CONSOLE ARCS, including 3 extra and different endings from the original. Best play order would be Chapters 1 through 8 so you get the ORIGINAL STORY, and then play the console arcs.
