The Devil's Mercy

Stephen Rea seems to be making quite the career of propping up low budget horrors like this and OUT OF THE DARK, although it's hardly the illustrious kind of filmography he'd probably hoped for at the outset of his career. THE DEVIL'S MERCY is one of the most awful of all low budget horrors that I've seen lately.

It's your usual run-of-the-mill haunted house nonsense, shot in the dark for most of the time so you won't be bored by the on-screen antics because you won't even see them. Rea plays the supporting role of a sinister father who lives next door to a family new to the area (this central family is the most boring ever, with bad acting all round). THE DEVIL'S MERCY is one of those films that's so cheap it needs to do everything by the power of suggestion, which means that there's little action or incident up on screen. Sadly, due to the inefficiency of the filming techniques, it turns out to be one of the worst ever.
