Die wang jiao wa

This film essentially begins with the death of a brilliant Chinese physicist who had just transcribed his plans for a revolutionary new type of nuclear reactor onto microfiche which he then subsequently hides from sight. Naturally, realizing the value of these new plans several governments and clandestine organizations send out their best men to acquire it. So when word gets out that a female entertainer by the name of "Li Beng" (Pei-Pei Cheng) has it in her possession, things get out of hand very quickly after that. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was a somewhat typical espionage film for this particular era which sought to mix in some action, humor and music along the way. It also featured several beautiful actresses in Tina Chi-Fei (as the evil "Li Chuan Chuan"), Liang Hua Liu ("Yu Mei Di") and the aforementioned Pei-Pei Cheng to further enhance the scenery. Unfortunately, not all of these elements blended in as well as they could have and as a result the film suffered from a rather uneven nature overall and I have rated it accordingly. Average.
