Kelly explains that the reason why the series was called simply "Kelly Monteith" is that he'd worked with people who had their sitcom titles as their "middle name", such as Nell Carter appearing on billboards as Nell "Give Me A Break" Carter. As he didn't want the same to happen to him, he deliberately avoided calling the series anything like "The Kelly Monteith Show".

Kelly's memories of the series are sometimes not always reliable, understandably so since the web series began 40 years after the BBC sitcom. In discussing his performance on the Des O'Connor show, he describes how he got his own sitcom off the back of three guest spots. However, while he DID appear three times on the programme, the third appearance occurred after he'd begun the series.
