This is the third movie in the trilogy starting with "Sorrowful to a Ghost", and "The Ghost's Sword". In the first movie Yi Yuan as the Dare Devil villain was defeated by the Patience Sword School. In the second, his brother Chiang Nan came to the school to get Dare Devil's sword. He was defeated but not killed by Liu Ping.
This movie begins where we left Chiang Nan - in the water. He fell off a cliff into the river while fighting Liu Ping in the second movie. Anyone who has watched more than a handful of these movies knows that falling off a cliff into water never kills off the hero or the villain. After crawling out of the river with two daggers in his shoulders he encounters the Four Tigers and defeats them but was poisoned. He goes to the royal healer for help. The healer calls him out about all his killing. Chiang Nan offers help regarding some traitors and they seem to make a deal.
For me, the worst fight possible is fighting while carrying a child. The fight cannot be realistic because then the child is in danger. Therefore you end up with the fighter carrying a stupid prop that is supposed to look like a child. It can be made worse by adding the sound of a crying child. Now you have stupid and annoying. This child is constantly annoying. At about the 40 minute mark the child is hooked by a fisherman and goes flying through the air. The fisherman then fights while holding the annoying crying child. The only good part is that it is over in two minutes.
On the plus side, Chiang Nan and Nancy Yen Nan-See showed good power and focus in all of their fights.
Overall, this movie is suitable only for hard core fans of martial arts movies of the golden age from 1967 to 1984. As a trilogy it is just connected by the final fights in the first and second movies. I rate it generously at just average.
