The classical heroine is here again, this time incarnated by Catherine Demaiffe *(Capitaine Béatrice Coste). Young, very beautiful, honest, tough and spunky, she carries a dark family secret and ... we're hooked until the end of the episode/ series.
Comissaire Thomas Jouannet/ ("le petit Vincent/ gaillard") is the male equivalent. A bit childish in manners, just to make him more likable, he's your classical heartthrob. Like a Kurt Cobain without drugs. They've got enough chemistry, their scene at the posh restaurant is funny.
Factotum actor Didier Flamand plays Béatrice's long suffering (for many reasons) dad (André C.). The best actor of the lot, by far, had a great acting moment when facing his daughter's comeuppance in the golf club, "what would you have done in our place?".
Aladin Reibel (Michel Gignac) is a cool psychopath, maybe it would have been nice to see how he lied all around, and how he conned people into believing him. But he's scary, yes. Can't say more for fear of spoilers. But beware of rookie climbers :)!
Aurore Clément (Hélène) is fine in everything she does, and in there, if you are patient, you'll be rewarded.
Alain Doutey is the funny guy/ comic relief, as the short-sighted commissary (Giry), putting self interest above all else, so bluntly he's almost likely. Stereotypical but very believable. My favourite character! If Odile, her secretary, could speak :)!
Florence Viala (Christelle) is another classic character: the "dependable friend with expertise in one field, with whom you'll occasionally quarrel but will make friends again in 2 minutes, for she's needed in the plot". In this case, a forensic/ lab technician (vital in the genre nowadays) also knowledgeable in psychiatry.
Sylvie's character is also interesting. The girl that plays Béatrice as a child acts well, walks and feels like a child, not "as an adult think a child is". Commandant Legrand *(from Marseille's crim), "Madame le Procureur", bald Roland and rookie Melissa, and later Xavier play accompanying coppers naturally.
Music is fine, a simple theme, engaging maybe because of its repetition. The scenery is beautiful, very present, sunny and yet not at all "jovial".
