As far as modern day satire goes, I think Onion News Network will have to take the crown of "today's Voltaire" from South Park. They both feature incisive commentary on current events and trends, wrapped up in entertainment and production values. However, while South Park feels crude and mean-spirited at times, Onion News Network uses its format in a way that feels more insightful and witty. Each segment is well suited for the internet medium with a short length and fast pacing. The structure and flow of each episode is carefully calculated for maximum impact with realistic delivery and lots of twists and turns.
