Moving to a new apartment building, a teen finds that the ghost that haunts the building is a legendary spirit who killed herself there that has now possessed a troubled young girl and using her to enact revenge against her tormentors, forcing him to deal with the ghosts.
Overall this one here wasn't all that bad of an effort. One of the more enjoyable elements here is the fact that there's a rather sizable amount of more intense scares present here rather than going for the mixture of the silly and scary. Going from the opening seance which is rather chilling featuring the ghost interrupting their seance and continually attacking them, the early scenes showing her school and home life that leads to the later events in here and the flashback scene showing her getting attacked which signals the change into the ghost all feature some more straightforward attempts at scares which don't have the same silliness and terror mixed together which is what gives them their more effective staying power. The later scenes, with the ghost appearing in the hallways or crashing the guys' night in rather chilling fashion that's still utterly hilarious as well, there's more traditional scenes that counterbalance these previous efforts which really makes for quite a well-rounded effort. Once it's done with these issues, there's some fun to be had here with the comedic undertones in the rest of the movie, which gives this the same silly tone here with the corny jokes, physical comedy and absurd situations here with the characters clearly being that type of over-the-top goofiness which has long been a part of the series. The corny mugging for the camera, absurd dialects and rather weird physical traits for many of the residents in the apartment are put forward here in order to keep this the same goofy and silly tone that's mixed alongside the more horror-based features here which makes for a good time. With some solid looking gore-effects for the graphic violence on display for the vicious deaths on display as well as the creepy-looking ghost, there are some really enjoyable elements to this one even with a few problems on display. The film's biggest issue is the fact that there's just not nearly enough ghost action in this one as there's just so many scenes that aren't about it at all. Rather than focus on the fun comedic interludes this time around, most of the attempts at comedy here just showcase how little the screen time for the ghost really is which really drags the pacing down more than usual. Going on about the illegal gambling den doesn't have any reason to be here since so many of these scenes go nowhere and have little resolution on the story as a whole, and going back to his friends who are over for a hang-out doesn't really go anywhere either with this one focusing on their reactions rather than anything else as they just sit around not engaging in any kind of entertaining way. The only other part of this one that really doesn't work is the confusing nature of whether or not the girl is really possessed by the ghost or if she's the one going on the rampage in her name, as the whole possession affair is utterly confusing and doesn't really make this any better for the film as this one really could've used a better explanation to this angle. These here are what lower this one.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Violence, Language and intense scenes of child abuse.
