Push

Push is a little preachy as a short film, building up a ton of intrigue for the first three minutes of its brief duration before kind of laying everything out in a way that disappoints in the final minute or so. It starts off feeling like it takes place somewhere vaguely post-apocalyptic, then feels like the afterlife, then becomes something else entirely. It's got some kind of interesting animation, but that part of it's also a bit disappointing by the standards of Osamu Tezuka, who usually packs interesting ideas and visuals into a brief runtime with ease.

Push is a bit pushy. It slaps you over the head after promising something more interesting and vague, but it's not atrocious in the end. And it took more time to write about it than it did to watch, so at least any worry of it being a time-waster is non-existent.
