WUSSTEST DU SCHON:
- WissenswertesDoug Walker and Rob Walker came up with the idea for this show in 2007, just around the time Doug had started The Nostalgia Critic (2007), identifying it as the first ever series to tackle sketch comedy that lampoons current movies. They cite Der kleine Meisterregisseur (1999) as their inspiration. However, when 2012 came, the idea was no longer fresh. Shows like Robot Chicken (2001) had since came around that did the same thing.

When Doug Walker killed off his character, "the Nostalgia Critic", at the end of "To Boldly Flee" people were wondering what he would do next. Well this came in the form of "Demo Reel" a show which is almost universally loathed.
The premise was very simple. You had a group of colorful characters who would talk about movies, plot holes and how they didn't work and then redo them in a way that did work. With better writing and acting this could have been a thing. But unfortunately, it wasn't and it was just painful to watch.
And not very many people actually liked it because after a bit they killed the show and Doug went back to doing the Nostalgia Critic but some of the magic was gone.
Doug needs to realize that he's not an actor and while he might have the film knowledge, that doesn't always translate into being able to make movies.
