The title of this film loosely translates to "Take Your Bible And Get Out Of Here".
It's a ridiculously weird, and cheesy, blend of apocalyptic sci-fi, comedy, and horror.
With loads of low budget effects, creature costumes, and even some animation.
After murdering an alien who was sent to warn humanity about the trajectory of a comet, bound for Earth, carrying a zombie-inducing virus.
The small French town of Ham, ends up becoming ground zero, for the onset of this deadly plague.
Which quickly begins to effect it's residents.
Leaving the unaffected, to fight off a horde of zombies- not only to fight for their own survival...but for the sake of humanity, as well.
Meanwhile, a low-level extraterrestrial pirate has accepted a contract, to embark on a mission to find the missing ambassador of the Atrarians.
Only to find out that he is being hunted (by a rival bounty hunter), himself.
Not to mention a horde of zombies.
The whole thing is rather bad...but in the best possible way!
Sure, most of the gore is either animated, or really bad CGI.
And the acting is pretty bad.
But it makes up for it's shortcomings, with some great cult style...a cast of over the top characters (including some reptilian politicians)...and a story so absurd...you can't help but be won over by it.
Plus, it's barely over an hour.
So it doesn't force you to invest a lot of time to get into.
The title refers to one of the film's anti-heroes.
A self-styled soapbox preacher, and snake oil salesman...who finds himself fighting on the frontlines- alongside a bum, prostitute, and old crone- for the sake of humanity.
The best part of this film is definitely the animation.
Which is actually pretty good!
And gives the whole thing a sort of comic book vibe.
With the creature effects being pretty decent as well.
Especially considering what they must have had for a budget.
I don't want to give away the twist...but if you hadn't already been won over by it's sheer and utter cheesiness...the twist should certainly do the job.
I thoroughly enjoyed this.
And it seems like the cast and crew had as much fun making the film, as I did watching it.
It's definitely worth investing an hour of your time in.
You won't be disappointed.
Because it might be ridiculously bad...but it's ridiculously bad in the weirdest possible way!
