No pun intended - although the innuendo is obviously there. I am just taking what the movie gives me and ... well roll with it. What does it mean to be a man? Now we are not getting too philosophical ... there are many things that the movie touches upon .. even a short stab at social media (addiction) ... yes we all crave likes! Though I try not to see how my reviews are doing - you can't help but wanting people to see them (you?) and appreciate the time you took writing ... but I deter.
When I watched this the other day, I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a while. He asked me if it made sense to watch this, if he hadn't seen the other movies. I told him, I saw the other movies, but did not read the books - also you can watch it, without any prior knowledge. It will actually make you want to watch the other ones once you are done! And I assume he is doing that right now - he liked this one too.
Now there are some inside jokes one might not get and you will be more familiar with the characters - the returning ones that is. Because as always we get new people in this ... and yet it all makes sense ... and it all is in the detail. Even if you didn't know the father of our main character ... you will understand him.
This is about being independent, about family, and about being able to perform ... on many levels. Breaking down all the things this touches upon is almost impossible .. and yet it does a great job, as always! I would not call myself a fan boy when it comes to german movies ... the Eberhofer series has done something not many were able to do ... and succesfully so! Which I am really happy about ... they deserve it .. and we deserve at least one more movie ...
