I certainly had my doubts going into "Babygirl" after seeing the previews of this major motion picture. I have an unlimited pass to see any movie anytime so i thought, why not give it a look. I am not picky about movies and I enjoy most of the movies I see. Heck, I even like Lifetime movies and B shark movies for crying out loud! "Babygirl" describes itself as a Drama, Erotic Thriller, Crime, and Thriller genre movie. I don't see how the movie can be described as a crime genre movie when no crimes are committed in the movie. Maybe it is because it was a crime for Nicole Kidman to sign up for this one. I realize Ms. Kidman is at an age when actresses struggle in their careers but please Nicole, there must be better roles out there. With that being said: Nicole did an outstanding job of acting in the movie and the cinematography was above average. The movie seemed to go around in circles at times as it seemed to have two second acts and a very convoluted 3rd act. Redeeming qualities in "Babygirl" were the social commentaries on power in the workplace and in relationships and the fact that women in our society still struggle to achieve top positions in the corporate world and the work place and politics. We still have not had a female President. I found Nicole's family to be quite interesting and entertaining. Her husband was played by an aging Tony Banderas. The family was a super liberal one and was actually quite funny. The family scenes were the most entertaining parts of the movie for me.
