Right, well right off the top of my mind when I saw the cover for this 2024 movie from director Michelle Ouellet, I was thinking that this would probably be a train wreck of a movie. But still, I opted to give the movie a fair chance and added it to my 2024 Christmas movie marathon.
15 minutes into to the ordeal and I was good and ready to give up. The storyline in "Christmas in the Spotlight" was a dumpster fire of a script. I don't know what writer Eirene Tran Donohue was thinking when she concocted the kettle that is "Christmas in the Spotlight". This was definitely one of least interesting stories in a Christmas movie that I had suffered through here in 2024. A singer and a football player? That hardly really constituted a Christmassy feeling for me.
As for the cast in the movie, well the acting performances were fair, though I wasn't familiar with a single face on the screen. Normally I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen, but that didn't apply to "Christmas in the Spotlight", because the storyline was just a flaming heap of... Well, you get the idea.
I suppose that diehard fans of sappy Christmas movies might find some enjoyment in this movie. But personally I found no entertainment or enjoyment in the movie, as it failed entirely to capture my interest.
Definitely not a movie that I would recommend you to waste 87 minutes of your life on watching.
My rating of director Michelle Ouellet's 2024 movie "Christmas in the Spotlight" lands on a two out of ten stars. The only thing that lifts the movie up from an abysmal one star rating is the acting performances and the production value of the movie.
