Stormy Daniels aka Stephanie Clifford has a laudable career behind the camera for Wicked Pictures, but "The Ring" is one of her mediocre productions. Even the vivacious contract star Kaylani Lei can't grab the viewer with this one, more crass than brass.
It's rather heavily indebted to that mainstream comedy hit "The Hangover", without sinking to the parody level of say a "The Hangover XXX". A wedding in Vegas is the hook for the story, with Kaylani heading there with her ex-boyfriend Michael Vegas, latter delivering yet another disagreeable performance. I know Mike is beloved by porn directors and casting folks to this day, but i usually find him insufferable, even without the stupid Harpo Marx hairdo he affects in this one.
Sex mixes with comedy when Lei volunteers to retrieve the titular wedding ring which has ended up on the finger of a B-girl/whore played listlessly by another contract girl, the forgettable Samantha Saint. Lei supposedly sucks it off the hand of Saint during their Sapphic encounter in the VIP room of a strip joint.
Tall, tall Rilynn Rae is stuck with a nothing role as the bride, merely on hand for an extraneous sex scene with groom TJ Cummings that ends the film. Stormy is a huge fan of genre cliche scripts, yet somehow bungles this one, as the story and characters build toward the usual "get back together" climax which would have battlers Michael and Kaylani letting bygones be bygones and humping at the conclusion but that never happens. Had Clifford's script been for a mainstream film, many rewrites would have improved it, but for Wicked porn, any old thing will do, as long as the requisite 5 sex scenes are provided.
