"Rama Madhav" ,as movie depicts, is not only the love story of Shreemant Peshvah Madhavrao and Ramabai, but it is also the untold story of "Shaniwarwada", a six storey palace, built in area of 6 acres, by Shreemant Peshvah Thorila Bajirao . I believe that taking a decision to direct and produce a periodic drama film is really appreciable and risky task as this genre has its unique demands such as talented and experienced cast, intense research of characters and language, expensive sets and costumes which causes swelling of budget. I must say that the movie is brilliantly made film which depicts the eternal love story of Rama-Madhav when forces of Maratha military conquered Delhi. Maratha Empire was at its Zenith and Madhavrao, in his short life of 29 years, helped spread the empire all over India, fighting against external forces like Nijamshah and Afghan invaders as well as internal enemies like Raghunathrao, who was his uncle and very brave Maratha warrior. Movie also portraits character of Raghunathrao aka Raghobadada and his emotionally disturbed state when he came to know his mistakes that caused Madhavrao to suffer many consequences. The scenes showing emotional collapse and death of Peshwah Balaji Bajirao aka Nanasaheb Peshave when he heard that Vishwasrao and Sadashivrao aka Bhau got killed in the third battle of Panipat, arrival of look-a-likes of Sadashivrao as no one knew whether Bhau got killed in the battle or was alive because his dead- body was not identified on the battlefield, the dialogues between lead couple and climax scene of Rama going "Sati" after death of her husband, are fantastic. Hugeness and grandeur of Shaniwarwada was eye pleasing. Excellent cinematography. Fabulous performances by Prasad Oak, Mrunal Kulkarni, Ravindra Mankani, Shruti Marathe and Alok Rajwade, Parn Pethe. The tour of Shaniwarwada when Rama enters the palace for the first time and her exploration was memorable. Background score was good. Ganpati Aarti was very creatively composed song by Anand Modak. Production design was excellent. The film was must watch for those who love to watch period films as it is best opportunity to experience the glorious era of Maratha Empire.
