Chávez's first introduction to Acting was in the late 90's in the CBS TV series " LA Doctors". Since, Luis has accrued over 40 TV & Film credits in which he displays his diversity as an actor.
In 2008 , he was approached to star as a series regular in the TV series "Crash" opposite legendary Dennis Hopper. The series was produced by Paul Haggis and based on the Oscar winning film. During his career he's collaborated with well respected and Academy Award winning talent such as Kim Basinger in the thriller "While She was Out", Adrien Brody in the comedy "High School" and Sandra Bullock & Billy Bob Thornton in the political drama "Our Brand is crisis".
In late 2022, we saw him share the screen with Christoph Waltz & Willem Dafoe in Walter Hill's western "Dead for a Dollar" which premiere at the prestigious 2022 Venice Film Festival. Luis portrayal as a vicious land boss' (Benjamin Bratt) quiet and diplomatic personal lawyer received critical acclaim .
Chávez's work in "Deadland", a psychological thriller which premiered at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival has been praised by critics for Luis' ability to convey emotions without much dialogue.
His latest film, thriller "Muzzle", reunites him with "High School" Director John Stalberg . In it, Chávez goes opposite Aaron Eckhart in his very first non-binary role , which aligns with his own personal gender identity.
